TORONTO (AP) — A small plane crashed into a small office building just north of Toronto near an airport, killing the pilot and a passenger.

York region police Constable Gary Phillips said Tuesday the plane crashed into the roof of the Thinkway Toys Division building Tuesday. The roof was engulfed in flames following the crash, but it was quickly doused by emergency crews.

Phillips said there were no injuries to anyone in the building. York region Constable Rebecca Boyd confirmed two deaths on the plane.

Boyd said 14 were evacuated from the building. She said the plane crashed into the roof after takeoff. The plane crashed through part of the roof, leaving debris strewn on it.

Nearby Buttonville Airport is surrounded by densely populated neighborhoods.

Transport Canada is investigating.
