Man decapitates wife, carries head through streets in India

A man who thought his wife was having an affair decapitated her with an axe, and then wandered his western India neighborhood carrying her severed head, police say.

The man—identified as Ramachandra Chavan, 60—was recorded on cell phone video carrying his wife’s head by the hair through the streets of Pune, about 100 miles from Mumbai, Sky News reported, citing News World India.

In the video, Chavan is holding the head in one hand and the axe in the other, and oblivious to witnesses looking on in shock and horror.

Investigators believe Chavan, who worked as a security guard, killed his wife, Sonabai, 55 because he thought she was cheating on him with a relative.
