MOGADISHU, Somalia -- A Malaysian TV station says one of its journalists has been shot dead in the Somali capital.

A statement on Bernama's website says 41-year-old Noramfaizul Mohd Nor was killed Friday in Mogadishu as he accompanied the aid agency Putera 1Malasyai Club on a humanitarian mission.

A Somali official says the man was shot as he was traveling in a car near a busy junction known as Kilometer Four.

The official asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press.

The circumstances of the shooting were unclear.

Aid agencies and journalists have been flooding into the capital to respond to war-ravaged Somalia's widespread famine.
