An Israeli newspaper has come under fire for reportedly running a front page photo of world leaders lined up in Paris for Sunday’s historic march – minus the women.
At the beginning of the rally, around 40 world leaders dressed in black linked their arms in a show of solidarity with French people in the aftermath of the deadly attacks on the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.
But the photograph on the cover of The Announcer – an orthodox Jewish publication – is missing German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Chief Frederica Mogherini, The Telegraph reports.
At the rally, Merkel stood between French President Francois Hollande and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, but in the newspaper photo, Hollande and Abbas are side by side.
Some ultra-Orthodox Jews find photos that display unmarried men and women touching as offensive, according to The Blaze.
Critics say the editing tampers with the message of unity that the rally aimed to spread, The Telegraph reports.
