The West is still very active as multiple systems from the Pacific spread heavy rain, snow, and wind across the region.  Flash flooding will be a concern across Northern and Southern California, including recent wildfire burn areas.  Blizzard warnings are up for parts of the Sierra Nevada.

Part of the energy from these Western systems will track across the country, bringing multiple chances for snow.   Rain and snow will spread  through the Midwest and Ohio Valley Thursday, then into the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Thursday night into Friday.

The system behind that will be stronger, with more potential for heavier precipitation across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic over the weekend, but it is way too early to make a call on heavy rain vs. snow for the region, depending on the storms ultimate track and how cold the air is where it interacts.
