Iranians poured into the streets of Los Angeles after the news came out that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed during the U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran. Los Angeles is home to one of the world’s largest Iranian communities. In “Tehrangeles”, a combination of Tehran and Los Angeles, storefronts hang the old flag of Iran and signs are written out in English and Farsi. Many people in the community remember life before the Iranian revolution of 1979 or stories from their families. But the joy many Iranians felt at hearing the Ayatollah was gone is mixed with fears for families in Iran. Persian business owners in the area told FOX about how they’re feeling about the continuing conflict.
