Many pumpkin patches won't look the same this year as drought conditions across the United States leave farmers with empty fields. Farmers said they have harvested at least 15% fewer pumpkins this year.
Many pumpkin patches won't look the same this year as drought conditions across the United States leave farmers with empty fields. Since pumpkins are made up of at least 80% water, farmers say many of them couldn't survive the dry season. In some regions, a lack of rainfall caused pumpkins to be more than 10% smaller. The drought can also lead to higher pumpkin price as some farmers are forced to buy pumpkins from other regions to meet demand.
