Utah boy, 6, dies in sledding accident

Drake Gideon Cox died in a sledding accident in Utah on Saturday.

A 6-year-old boy died in a sledding accident in Sanpete County on Saturday.

Drake Gideon Cox, of Fountain Green, Utah, was sledding with his family at Fairview Canyon, according to the Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office.

While coming down the hill at a high rate of speed, Drake struck a tree. He was transported to Sanpete Valley hospital where he died from serious head trauma.

The Sheriff’s Office says several other family members had already gone down the hill and were close by when he hit the tree, but his injuries were too severe.
