A U.S. Army soldier apprehended an alleged armed bank robber Tuesday in Sarasota, Fla., after he said the suspect waved his gun in the direction of the soldier's children, MyFoxTampaBay reports.

Staff Sgt. Eddie Peoples, who was with his two children at a Bank of America branch, realized he walked in on a robbery, he told the station. After the alleged robber waved the gun at his children, Peoples followed the man into the parking lot and cornered the suspect.

Both men got out and Peoples said he took the man’s weapon and “put him on the ground.”

Peoples, who had been deployed five times and fought against groups like the Muqtada militia, told the station, "Weapons getting pointed at me, it doesn't really bother me anymore."
