Orlando police searching for 'discarded' Baby Willow

Published February 16, 2016

Orlando police said they don’t know if a newborn is dead or clinging to life after the child was “discarded” by her mother shortly after being born Monday.

A witness reported seeing a placenta and afterbirth in the Willow Bend Apartments parking lot and investigators soon determined a full-term baby had been born, police told WFTV. “A giant area” was searched – including all dumpsters in the vicinity – but the baby was not located, officials said.

Cops have named the child “Baby Willow,” News4Jax reported.

Police were able to locate the 31-year-old mother, who allegedly admitted to giving birth to a baby girl. It’s unknown if the woman, whose name has not been released, has told authorities where the infant may be.

The woman, who has not been arrested, is not a resident of the Willow Bend Apartments, though neighbors told WFTV that the woman is known to frequent the area.
