A New York-based artist is attempting to visit all 50 states to paint a portrait of the American flag on the roofs of homes and businesses.
Scott LoBaido finished his latest work on a building owned by George Weir Asphalt, located near Metcalf St. and Washington Ave. in Escondido, Calif., KSWB-TV reports.
"I started this flag on Sunday and Sunday night our beautiful, wonderful military murdered [Usama bin Laden]," LoBaido said. "We don't call that man by his name around here. If you say his name, he will live on forever."
LoBaido, who was reinvigorated by the news and finished the painting by Monday, drives across the country in his flag-painted truck and relies on the kindness of strangers for food and shelter. If he can't find someone to sponsor his stay, LoBaido sets up camp. He made a similar journey in 2006.
"I'm not making any money on this," LoBaido told KSWB-TV. "My $1 million check is when some veteran comes up and thanks me."
