Los Angeles plane crash near freeway kills at least one

A plane crash on the side of a Los Angeles freeway killed at least one person Wednesday, according to authorities.
A single-engine aircraft was found went down just before 12:30 p.m. in an embankment near the westbound lanes of Interstate 210 in the city's Sylmar area in the San Fernando Valley. A deceased occupant was found in the wreckage.
The cause of the crash has not been determined and the identity of the person killed was not disclosed. No other victims were found, officials said.
The fire department said there was a small fuel leak when responders arrived at the crash site but that it had been contained. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are investigating the crash, the LAFD said.
The origin of the plane was not known Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic on the freeway's westbound lanes is expected to be impacted, authorities said.
