Live Updates: Hurricane Delta makes landfall as category 2 storm

Delta, now a devastating Category 2 storm, made landfall along Louisiana's southwest coast around 6 p.m. CT Friday.

The hurricane had sustained winds of 77 mph with gusts up to 96 mph when it hit Louisiana.

The hurricane is expected to impact some of the same areas that were damaged by Hurricane Laura about six weeks ago.

A storm surge of up to 11 feet is forecast for some areas.
