Idaho fire officials say parrots called out to be rescued from blaze

Published May 21, 2015

Fox News

Fire crews in Idaho initially thought they heard cries for help from humans who were trapped in a house fire Friday evening.

But when they were able to knock the flames down, they realized the noises weren't coming from people, but from parrots.

KBOI reported that the fire broke out at a home in Middleton, Idaho, west of Boise. Firefighters told the station that they heard cries of "Help!" and "Fire!" that led them to believe there were people in the house.

The birds were rescued and given oxygen by firefighters and are expected to be OK.

There were no people in the house, and it is not clear how the fire started. The blaze is under investigation.
