Grieving mom victim of thief while visiting late daughter's memorial

A Florida mother whose daughter was killed in a car accident became the victim of a crime when someone reached into her car and stole her late daughter’s handbag, MyFoxOrlando.com reports.

Tanjia Mitchell, of Melbourne, was visiting the roadside memorial at the site where her daughter, Beth Bryant, died last Sunday when a thief reached into her unlocked car and stole the purse, which contained Bryant’s personal effects recently collected by Mitchell from the morgue.

The items included a broken Bulova watch that Bryant, 26, was wearing when she died, according to the station.

"I felt like they had taken my baby from me, again," the mother said. "They took the last piece of something that was on my baby, and it's gone," Mitchell told the station.

Within a half hour, police say the surveillance cameras recorded the thief driving his purple Ford Taurus into a Target and a Walmart, where he reportedly bought an iPad and several phone cards with the stolen credit cards. Police also said he had Beth Bryant's watch.

Police are looking for the suspect, described by police as a black man in his mid to late 20s, wearing glasses and marked with sleeve-style tattoos on his arms, MyFoxOrlando.com reports.
