ANFORD, Fla.-- A kindergartner from Bentley Elementary School in Sanford, Florida left recess and walked a half a mile home.
His mom tells FOX 35 News the boy jumped a fence and crossed a two lane road at around noon Wednesday.
She says her son was upset because he was told by a teacher he had to wait to wash his hands.
She says eight minutes later she got a hold of the principal who drove over to her home to pick up her son and bring him back to his kindergarten class.
His mom tells FOX 35 News he did try to leave class one time before this, but was stopped at the door.
A school district spokesperson told FOX 35 News, the child was gone two to five minutes when the teachers realized he was gone, and they fanned out in a search for the boy.
This mom says during that time no one called the police.
She says, "I'm not the kind of parent that's like my kid can do no wrong, he's definitely in trouble for this." "I'm just confused about what the policy is as far as when a child is missing from the school."
The mom has asked for a meeting with the superintendent and she's in the process of finding a lawyer
