A Connecticut woman who told police she drank half a bottle of hand sanitizer was charged with drunken driving.

Middletown police had pulled over another vehicle on Oct. 5 when a car driven by 36-year-old Jennifer Wilcox came speeding around the corner, the Hartford Courant reported.

Wilcox lost control of the vehicle and spun out of control, almost crashing into the vehicle that had been pulled over, according to a police press release.

Police smelled alcohol on Wilcox, but she denied drinking. After failing field sobriety tests she was charged with driving under the influence.

Wilcox later admitted to drinking half of a bottle of hand sanitizer, the newspaper reported.

At the police station, breath tests showed a blood alcohol level of 0.1764 percent and 0.1577 percent, according to the paper.

Wilcox was also charged with Failure to Drive Right and was released on a $500 bond.
