Clarification: Terrorism Arrests story

NORTH BERGEN, N.J. (AP) — In a story June 25, The Associated Press reported that the parents of a New Jersey man accused of trying to join a Muslim terrorist group believe an undercover FBI agent encouraged his behavior. Mohamed Alessa, 20, and his friend, Carlos Almonte, 24, were arrested June 5 as they prepared to fly to Egypt, allegedly en route to terrorism training in Somalia, authorities said. FBI agent Michael Ward was quoted saying there wasn't much authorities could have done to prevent their actions. The story should have made clear that Ward meant that FBI outreach efforts were limited once the pair had become radicalized.
