A burglary suspect couldn't hide from the law, but he kept himself fireproof for a while.

Anthony Dixon, 18, sprayed his body with fire extinguishers, apparently to cloak himself, after investigators say he broke into a Family Dollar store in Spring Hill, Fla., Bay News 9 reported Wednesday.

Deputies said Dixon tossed a cinder block through the store window last month. When they arrived, they saw an initial clue: a white, powdery substance on the floor.

After receiving a series of tips, investigators soon spotted Dixon, apparently with some of the fire retardant spray still on his legs, the news station added.

Dixon reportedly admitted to stealing the fire extinguishers and some cigarettes. He faces charges including grand theft.

Spring Hill is an hour's drive north of Tampa.
