Bartender fired for doing the right thing? Video

An Ohio bartender says she got fired after alerting police to a drunken patron who was leaving the bar in his vehicle.

Twyla DeVito, who worked at the American Legion in Shelby, told 10TV that Mike Ramey, who is a regular at the bar, was “hammered” when she arrived for work last week.

When Ramey left, she called police and warned them about a drunk person behind the wheel. Shelby Police Chief Charlie Roub said officers stopped Ramey and he blew a 0.167 on a breathalyzer test, over twice the legal limit, 10TV reports.

DeVito said her boss then called her two days later and said she was fired for being “bad for business.”

“If every patron who comes in here has to worry about the cops waiting for them when they leave, the place would be empty,” Mic Hubbard, her boss, told 10TV.

Hubbard added that DeVito did the right thing morally.
