Baby dead after nine-months' pregnant woman is shot in face

A Memphis woman who was nine-months' pregnant survived after she was shot in the face, but her unborn baby is dead and police are searching for the assailant, FOX13 reported.

Memphis police said the alleged gunman is an acquaintance of the woman.

The 22-year-old victim was sitting in a vehicle with the man just after midnight Sunday when he shot her in the face, cops said.

The victim, who is in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds, was able to communicate with officers and give them information on the suspect while she was transported to the hospital. Her baby was pronounced stillborn at 1:45 a.m.

No arrests have been made.
