Five years after he enlisted in the Army, Specialist Josh Wagner surprised his little sister with a big hug in front of her classmates in Ohio Thursday, Fox 8 reports.

Wagner, 25, says his sister, Marisa, barely came up to his waist five years ago. She's now 11, and a student at Green Intermediate School.

The Army specialist says he's been deployed overseas twice since enlisting in 2010.

Half of the school had been called to the gymnasium, with staffers saying it was for a Veteran's Day project, according to Fox 8. The kids burst into applause during the hug.

The younger sister had a big smile on her face. "I always knew that she was going to be spirited," her brother said.

The family will reportedly spend the rest of the month, including Thanksgiving, together at home.
