With back-to-school season in full swing, students must figure out the best way to prep for classes and tests.

There are six bad study habits students need to avoid, according to Ashish Rangnekar, CEO of BenchPrep. The education-tech company believes by avoiding these mistakes, students can excel in school.

Rangnekar's first tip: avoid studying at home.

"There are a lot of distractions around you," Rangnekar told Fox News’ Jonathan Hunt on Foxnews.com LIVE. He says the best place to study is the library. "Everything everyone is doing around you is studying and puts you in a zone, which helps you stay there for a much longer period of time and concentrate better."

Students should think twice before highlighting their textbooks. "Revisiting the concept doesn’t help you to learn the concept better." Rangnekar suggests quizzing yourself or writing your own notes instead. "Try to remember the concept and rewrite it in your own personal words."

To find out other tips suggested by Ashish Rangnekar, watch the video above.

Catch Jonathan Hunt weekdays from 12-1 p.m. ET on FoxNews.com LIVE.
