Universal Orlando Resort announced Thursday it will open a third water park in Orlando in 2017.

"Called Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando Resort, it will join Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure and become the resort’s third incredibly immersive park," Universal Orlando said in a press release.

Construction has begun on Volcano Bay, which will open just south of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort.

Universal says the water park will be an immersive experience themed on "picture-postcard tropical island, formed by a massive volcano.”

A rendering of Volcano Bay released Thursday shows a smoking volcano with a massive waterfall and a clear tunnel that looks to contain a water slide the empties into a wave pool. Two other slides, one green and one yellow, are also depicted.

This follows several large expansions at Universal Orlando in the past few years that include The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, Springfield --an attraction based on the factious home of “The Simpsons  --and the newly announced Skull Island: Reign of Kong.
