This is a rush transcript from "The Five," June 9, 2017. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.
JESSE WATTERS, FOX NEWS HOST: Hello, everybody. I am Jesse Watters along with Kimberly Guilfoyle, Juan Williams, Dana Perino and Greg Gutfeld. It is 9:00 in New York City and this is "The Five."
We begin tonight with our top story, President Trump on offense. Today, Mr. Trump gave his first public reaction to yesterday's explosive testimony from FBI director he fired last month. This morning, the president tweeted, he feels totally and completely vindicated. This afternoon, he explained why.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
DONALD TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: No collision, no obstruction, he is a leaker. Frankly, James Comey confirmed a lot of what I said. And some of the things that he said just weren't true.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WATTERS: The president did not stop there. Watch this exchange with Jonathan Karl from ABC.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
TRUMP: I take one of the killer networks that treated me so badly as fake news -- should I do that? Go ahead, John. Be fair, John.
JONATHAN KARL, ABC NEWS: Oh, absolutely.
TRUMP: Remember how nice you used to be before I ran? Such a nice man. Always fair.
KARL: Mr. President, I want to get back to James Comey's testimony. You suggests that he didn't tell the truth in everything he said. He did say under oath that you told him to let the Flynn -- you said, you hoped the Flynn investigation, you could let --
TRUMP: I didn't say that.
KARL: So he lied about it?
TRUMP: Well, I didn't say that. I mean, I will tell you. I didn't say that.
KARL: And did he asked you to pledge --
TRUMP: There would be nothing wrong if I did say that, according to everybody that I've read today but I did not say that.
KARL: And did he asked for a pledge of loyalty from you? That's another thing he said.
TRUMP: No, he did not.
KARL: So, he said those things under oath, would you be willing to speak under oath to give your version of --
TRUMP: One hundred percent. I didn't say, under oath. I hardly know the man. I'm not going to say I want you to pledge allegiance -- who would do that? Who would asked a man to pledge allegiance under oath? I mean, think of it, I hardly know the man. It doesn't make sense. No, I didn't say that and I didn't say the other.
KARL: So, if Robert Mueller wanted to speak with about that --
TRUMP: I would be glad to tell him exactly what I just told you, John.
KARL: And you seem to be hinting that there are recordings of those conversations.
TRUMP: I am not hinting anything. I will tell you about it over a very short period of time. Okay?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: When is that?
TRUMP: Okay. Do you have a question here?
KARL: When are you going to tell us about the --
TRUMP: A very short period of time.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Are there tapes, sir?
TRUMP: You are going to be very disappointed when you hear the answer. Don't worry.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WATTERS: So, it seems like the president has his mojo back. I love how he speaks like he tweets. No obstruction. No collision. He's the leaker.
KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE, FOX NEWS HOST: Yes.
WATTERS: It looks like the president's back on offense.
GUILFOYLE: Yes. No collusion. Leaker. He's a leaker. That's what we found out. So, you know, he obviously feels confident about what's happening. It was a good day in terms of his statements. He was very consistent saying that he was told three times and then, there you heard it from the FBI Director saying, yes, I told the president on three separate occasions that he was not the subject of an investigation. Where do they go from here? Where's the big, you know, conspiracy, and the collusion, or obstruction of justice or investigations we've been hearing about over and over again?
I mean, yes, they're going to finish this up and see, but what are they going to all of a sudden magically get that what came to life after Comey was fired? Are they going to get some evidence? That he wasn't aware of? That is what I'm very curious about. Because I don't see how they sustain this at this point and keeping it going.
WATTERS: Chris Matthews also agrees that this Trump-Russia conspiracy is dead and that should tell you a lot.
GUILFOYLE: The tingler.
WATTERS: The tingler as we like to call them. Greg, Trump is now floating the idea that there may be tapes. What is the strategy there? There is their strategy.
GREG GUTFELD, FOX NEWS HOST: No, they're actually, it's an interesting strategy. But I think it's time that we lay-up Jim Comey, show some compassion. He is now a stay-at-home dad and we value our stay at home dad, don't we?
WATTERS: We do.
GUTFELD: We do. Okay. When he says, there might be tapes or are there tapes, it's the same kind of mentality when he said, hey, if the Russians know anything about Hillary's e-mails, let us know. It is based on the assumption that everything is being recorded or everything is being taped, there's people surreptitiously doing something or another. It's kind of just a joke on his part. I think that's what it is. And I know, that's why when he says, I think you're going to be really disappointed when you find out. But it's interesting what's happening right now, is how the story is shifting.
WATTERS: Yes.
GUTFELD: Because I read a headline from The Washington Post that said, quote, "There's no indication Comey violated the law." So, the story has shifted now --
WATTERS: Yes.
GUTFELD: -- and now everybody is looking at Comey because they realize that straight-a student that was Jim Comey is now the think, he's the guy that when all the other students went to play hooky and swim at the creek, he called the principal. So, everybody looks at him differently. My favorite part of the press conference was we heard the clearest explanation of NATO and the defense payment sharing by the Romanian president. And that's not even his primary language but when he explained it, everybody got it. I don't know if you guys saw that part. It was great.
WATTERS: I missed that part.
(LAUGHTER)
GUILFOYLE: Greg was mesmerized.
GUTFELD: I was. Go Romania.
WATTERS: Can we talk about what Greg just said, the shift in the narrative? And you actually said this the other day, and you were right, as much as it pains me to admit that, Dana --
DANA PERINO, FOX NEWS HOST: Why?
WATTERS: You said, I am kidding.
PERINO: What do you have against me?
WATTERS: You said that --
GUTFELD: How much time do you have?
WATTERS: You said that the Left was going to pick something up from the testimony and the right was going to pick up something from the testimony and they will going to each, you know, plant their flag afterwards. It looks like Trump was exonerated. But the Left is now moving with this thing that Comey called Trump a liar. That's what they are kind of grasping onto now. Do you see this going anywhere for the Democrats in the Left? Is this Russia thing over in your opinion?
PERINO: Well, it's not over because you have the Bob Mueller investigation.
WATTERS: Right.
PERINO: He says, we're trying to wrap it up in three months. So, we've got a long way to go. And I think that, you know, the president can benefit from being the owner of the bully pulpit. Because, then he could roll the day today, he already had a plan press conference because the Romanian president is coming. When that happens, it's usually two questions aside. And he was able to basically has fueled the weekend.
Right?
WATTERS: Yes.
PERINO: Everyone is going to be able to talk about it. But it depends on what they are talking about. It's not just tapes but he offered to testify.
WATTERS: Was that not a good idea?
PERINO: Okay. Let's have it. Like, I am for it, right? We are in the media. Like, that would be great. I don't know if his lawyers would agree.
WATTERS: Uh-hm.
PERINO: Because one of the things is, you get in there under testimony, the issue with the FBI is they've talked a lot more people that you don't necessarily know.
WATTERS: Right.
PERINO: So, when they say, oh by the way, we've talked to Mike Flynn and he said this, do you agree? And now we are also in this, he said, question. I don't think there are tapes because it there were, I don't think he would have said that.
WATTERS: Right.
PERINO: Okay. I also think that now you actually have to suspend the belief whatever that saying is, that the president is saying he didn't say any of that to Comey. That he didn't ask to go easy on Flynn, and they didn't ask for a loyalty pledge. So, you have to believe that then the FBI director left and decided to write a creative story on his laptop that would be the most epic perjury in the history of the country. And I don't know if that's necessarily going anywhere but it is something that the media is going to chew on. The other thing I would say is, I feel like there's possibly -- Comey will be called back up to testify. And I think one of the questions that is sort of still swirling around there --
WATTERS: Are we going to have the content pause again for that too?
PERINO: You know it because the ratings were great. But the question would be and there might not be a good answer but when you are in the Oval Office and the president makes you feel uncomfortable, and you feel like he's getting up to the line of possibly leading to an obstruction of justice thing, why don't you say, whoa, Mr. President, stop. Stop right there. Stop right there. Can we get the Attorney General back in here? And I think that actually President Trump would have said, yes, sure, okay, whatever.
WATTERS: Yes.
PERINO: But he didn't do that and I don't understand why. And that might be something he could actually clarify.
WATTERS: Well, he admitted he came off as quite cowardly throughout this hearing. Juan, also, very humiliating for "The New York Times" at the hearing, today put out this report that said that Trump campaign staff members were in constant contact with Russian intelligence agents. And Comey was asked straight up, if that was true and he said not true at all. So, that was kind of the crux of this whole collusion narrative. Based off this "New York Times" report. It's not there anymore.
JUAN WILLIAMS, FOX NEWS HOST: I don't think that's true. I think that what Comey said was that as far as he's concerned, the story was inaccurate and the main, "New York Times" responded that the definition of intelligence officials, Russia intelligence officials is, quite, you know, fungible because often times its banks for example, Jesse. They're state owned. They act on behalf of the Russian government but they are not technically intelligence officials. Or you have the way that the Russian spies work to recruit people. And sometimes it's people who are not necessarily members of the KGB but in other roles. Well, let me just speak broadly in terms of what we have been discussing --
WATTERS: Can I just say one, "The New York Times" did say they tried to contact the sources that gave him the information for the story, and they never responded back to them. So, all of a sudden, they were nowhere to be found.
WILLIAMS: Right.
PERINO: They probably know that the Justice Department is onto them.
WATTERS: Hopefully.
PERINO: Right.
WILLIAMS: I don't know but I'm so interested that you say, the game is over. Trump says, he is vindicated. I am like, wow, do you mean the people on the right are so blind, are so interested in running away from this story, that they are going to join Trump in saying, oh, nothing happened here. Who saw anything? Jim Comey, a leaker. Greg, the whole issue -- this hasn't changed any narrative. The White House came out and made the fact that he leaked the document into some kind of crimes. So, people were saying, well, gee, is it a crime? Did Jim Comey commit a crime? An answer. Zero. No.
GUTFELD: That's so funny.
WILLIAMS: That's manipulation by a White House that is on the defensive and trying to point a finger at somebody else. It's not a shift in narrative.
GUTFELD: Okay. It wasn't just the White House though. That was "The Washington Post." Look, the fact is --
GUILFOYLE: The media is covering it. And by the way, the last time we checked, the White House controlled the media.
WILLIAMS: People respond in the bully media.
GUTFELD: Now, to respond to the bully media.
WILLIAMS: Oh my God! You know who the big bully is? President Trump.
GUTFELD: No. I would say, we spent eight years of being bullied into submission. You could not say anything about President Obama --
WILLIAMS: I never heard a word from Greg Gutfeld --
GUTFELD: Yes.
WILLIAMS: Negative about President Obama.
GUTFELD: I think I was called names for anything everything I said. Okay. We're dealing right now with an example of confirmation bias. Either you see Trump as evil at the beginning, so nothing is going to change their mind. So, you see him as not evil and nothing changes their mind. I live in the middle.
WILLIAMS: Deal with me because I don't see him as evil. I see him at times as a bully, rude, offensive and incompetent.
WATTERS: Kimberly, let's address --
GUILFOYLE: Okay. What is this have to do with the a-block and what we're discussing --
(CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: I want to make one last point -- Greg?
WATTERS: Let's get to the substance.
WILLIAMS: Whose credibility would you trust? If you were, if someone said to you --
(CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: Are you going to trust President Trump or Jim Comey? I'd say, oh, boy, look at the number of lies told by --
GUTFELD: That is such a great question. Because you are dealing with somebody who tweets versus somebody who leaks. The most transparent thing you can do is tweet. Trump is the most transparent politician on earth.
WILLIAMS: How about --
GUTFELD: You know everything about him. I know everything. And what if we find about Comey? Comey has his hazy folksy demeanor that he uses to deflect from the fact that he did some wormy thing.
WILLIAMS: What is wormy about leaking, that was wormy.
GUTFELD: Yes.
WILLIAMS: How about this --
GUTFELD: Yes. I wake up in the middle of the night and I leak.
WILLIAMS: Get out of here.
GUTFELD: Are you too?
(LAUGHTER)
WATTERS: Juan?
WILLIAMS: How about this?
WATTERS: You didn't like -- six months ago when you say, costs to Hillary the election --
WILLIAMS: Let me go back.
WATTERS: Now all of a sudden, he has lost his credibility?
WILLIAMS: That has no relevance to what's at stake.
GUILFOYLE: And you know what else has no relevance? All of the name -- yes, all of the name calling that you are doing about the president, on and on because you don't want to talk about actually what's in the a-block which is the substance of his testimony and the memo. You just, oh, President Trump -- the reason why the press is covering the narrative of whether or not there is legal implications for what Jim Comey did is because it's relevant.
WATTERS: Yes.
GUILFOYLE: Because he admitted --
WILLIAMS: No, because the White House said --
GUILFOYLE: And that he prepared documents based on a meeting with the president. That is work product. That is discoverable.
WILLIAMS: And he's a private citizen.
GUILFOYLE: And he leaked it.
WILLIAMS: So what?
WATTERS: No, no, we're going to debate this in the next segment and in the meantime they're probably coming up for the fact that Loretta Lynch tried to influence the FBI investigation. They don't want to talk about --
WILLIAMS: Get out of here.
WATTERS: Coming up. Will Comey get in trouble for leaking to the press? Should he? That's debate directly ahead.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
PERINO: Back now with more on the fallout over Jim Comey's testimony yesterday. Republican Senator Susan Collins was a lawmaker questioning the former FBI director when he revealed who leaked his Trump memo. It was him. She was stunned that he slipped it to the press instead of to Congress.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SEN. SUSAN COLLINS, R-MAINE: He could have given the memos to the Senate Intelligence Committee but he chose instead a surprising route for someone who understandably has railed against others who have disclosed government documents.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
PERINO: There's a big divide in the court of public opinion over Comey's decision to leak the document.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Was Comey's credibility damaged do you think when he admitted that he leaked information to a friend in hopes that it would lead to a special prosecutor, which it did?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I think it actually was enhanced.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Really?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Yes. Because he was honest about it.
JONATHAN TURLEY, CONSTITUTIONAL LAW SCHOLAR: Comey created himself a serious problem. If he ever hits the stand as a witness, he is damaged goods. I mean, first of all, the leak does matter. The FBI website has very specific rules about how you can handle FBI documents. In my view, he violated all those rules. He maybe even violated federal law.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
PERINO: So, Kimberly, last night we heard your opinion, you feel strongly that its work product.
GUILFOYLE: Yes.
PERINO: Do you think that the lawsuit will actually happen because there is a question today that President Trump sometimes, he threatens that he's going to file a lawsuit and it doesn't actually come. Is this something in the news cycle or are they going to pursue it?
GUILFOYLE: Yes. I mean, they might pursue it actually. I think it's serious enough in terms of, you know, violation, and when you work for the FBI and I worked, you know, as a prosecutor for the government, there's a lot of, you know, rules and let alone as an attorney what you're supposed to do. So, when you prepare a document like that -- contemporaneous with an interview or discussion with the president of the United States, that is absolutely work product. That should be privileged. It is discoverable as well.
And the fact that he made it and went it and then went ahead and made a conscious decision to leak it to an outside civilian, a professor, in order for that person to give it to the press? It's just like mind-boggling. I mean, and he admitted it. There's no question about whether he did or whether he didn't. And he was very specific in terms of how it was created and how it came about.
PERINO: Part of that Juan is that he said that he specifically wrote it so it would not be classified.
WILLIAMS: Yes, that's what he did. So, I don't know that there's any argument --
PERINO: So, do you believe that Bob Woodward and his credibility was enhanced by just admitting that he was the one who facilitated the information got into the press?
WILLIAMS: Boy, he was very honest and very straightforward. He didn't need to be but he was and do I think that --
GUILFOYLE: Well, he was under oath so he's supposed to tell the truth.
WILLIAMS: Well, no, no --
PERINO: Yeheey!
WILLIAMS: He volunteered it. And let me say, this all came about because the president of the United States was going after him on twitter. And so, the president of the United States is making suggestions that there are tapes. Comey better hope that they're not -- I mean, all this kind of stuff and then you remember that he initially --
GUTFELD: That timing is in question.
WILLIAMS: Well, okay, but remember initially, the statement was, we fired him because of something that came from the deputy Attorney General, and then that's the re-changes to, oh, no, the FBI was just out of control and Comey is a bad guy. Oh, my gosh. You know, we had to, you know, and then he said it's the Russia thing. The Russia thing. That's the reason I fired him. So, Comey had a reason to say, hey, let's get this on the record and if there are tapes, let's hope so. By the way, if there's work product, boy, those tapes would be work product. Wouldn't they? Or it's a big bluff by the big bluffer.
GUTFELD: Can I respond?
PERINO: Sure.
GUTFELD: Number one, about the Russia thing, what Trump is talking about is come out and say, I am not being investigated on the dossier or whatever because that's what you've said and you are not saying it. And I am meeting with you and saying you are doing a good job and that I want your loyalty because I'm actually trying to see if you are actually going to do exactly what I'm hoping you to do which is to support me because my reputation is being soiled. You're saying that under investigation over this dossier. Why don't you go out and do something about it? He didn't do it, so he fired him. So, the funny thing is, you can't trust Comey and Trump realized that. I mean, the leak proves that he can't be trusted. He realized that Comey always had allegiances elsewhere. And I'm not sure where, I don't know if it was Schumer. Who knows?
PERINO: So, it doesn't bother you at all that you would be fired for something -- they say you are fired because of this memo and then it turns out no, you are actually fired because of the Russia thing. I mean, the president always says that he will counterpunch. Right?
GUTFELD: Yes.
PERINO: I think what you have Jesse is, Comey is saying, okay, I can counterpunch too. I think everybody has egos and reputations and they have their story that they want to tell. The other thing is, is that Comey is not a DOJ employee anymore. And I don't think there's a criminal prosecution here. I know the lawsuit you actually gain from it. You get a lot of media attention for it and it muddies the waters, but I don't know where it goes.
WATTERS: I think the question is, what's the appropriate method that you want to counterpunch? Do you do this the right way or do you leak it? He is supposed to hunt leakers.
PERINO: I mean, he could have given it to the Congress.
WATTERS: Exactly. And I think it muddies the waters for the Mueller investigation. You know, here's the deal with Comey. He treated Hillary Clinton completely different. With Hillary, you know, he was concealing the fact for a long time that they were under investigation. And then all of a sudden, he went public with it. Now, Trump wasn't under investigation and he didn't go public with that.
GUTFELD: He also was told by Loretta Lynch to downplay the seriousness of the Hillary Clinton email probe and he complied with that. And all President Trump said was, you know, listen, just tell everybody, I'm not under investigation.
(CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: It is such a scurrilous argument.
PERINO: We're going to get the same argument --
WILLIAMS: Oh, gosh, call as a matter not an investigation. I could say, you know what, Jesse, I don't like it. She shouldn't have said it. But that's only different than saying, hey, why don't you let this go? Why don't we not investigate my pal, he's a good guy?
WATTERS: He admitted that he was influenced by the Department of Justice.
GUTFELD: Yes.
WILLIAMS: No, on the contrary --
PERINO: It backfired. It backfired because then he goes out and he basically eviscerates Hillary Clinton and her reputation which the Democrats were devastated and the Republicans were praising him, including President Trump.
WATTERS: But for several months, he called it a matter instead of a criminal investigation.
WILLIAMS: And nobody in the press treated, everybody say it was an investigation.
GUTFELD: His words were, this wasn't about a hill I was going to die on. Those are his words about that moment. So, that man is, he complied. He obeyed. He has allegiances. He has allegiances.
WILLIAMS: It was meaningless and you guys want to make the case but it's somehow equal of the president telling the director of the FBI --
GUILFOYLE: I think it's all bad.
(CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: And let me just say, if this is President Obama --
GUTFELD: Why did he say that? Why did he say that?
WILLIAMS: You would be flipping --
GUTFELD: Why did he say that?
(CROSSTALK)
GUTFELD: Because it was more of a personal thing about Flynn because he's a good guy. It wasn't like a cover-up.
WILLIAMS: Oh, no, just a moment ago said that he wanted him to stop.
GUTFELD: I don't know. I am just saying, I read this stuff, I don't believe it's a cover-up.
WATTERS: It wasn't influenced by the White House -- he said under oath.
GUTFELD: And you don't know it's a cover-up.
WATTERS: Juan, it wasn't an obstruction of justice.
WILLIAMS: He said that he would leave that up to Mueller.
WATTERS: No, he said, he's never seen a prosecution based hope. He said that.
WILLIAMS: Right. But he also said that the hope clearly to him was taken as a directive to stop.
WATTERS: Well, I think we need more hope and change, Juan.
PERINO: That's what he said but that's not what necessary what the president meant and that's why we have Bob Mueller who was actually --
GUILFOYLE: In three months, they will figure it out. Like Dana said, what we do know is that the illustrious careers of Loretta Lynch and James Comey, not so much after yesterday.
GUTFELD: But you know what kills me is this is a replay of the media always embracing the hero narrative because it matches the same TV shows they watched. This is scandal, west wing. You know, Madam Secretary. This is -- somebody stands up and is honest. And it's always the businessman. It's always the businessman that is the evil person. It's the bureaucrat that is the hero. Often times it is the reverse.
GUILFOYLE: Yes. Well, now it's okay to leak? Noted.
PERINO: Well, three minutes to go. A lot more to get to. Some bizarre behavior today from some prominent Democrats over President Trump. You're going to will see that, next.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
GUILFOYLE: Democrats love to claim that President Trump is unhinged but in the aftermath of the Comey testimony, it's the Democrats whose behavior is being called into question. Nancy Pelosi is having trouble with her words.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Are you concerned about the president's health?
REP. NANCY PELOSI, D-CALI., HOUSE MINORITY LEADER: I think his family should be concerned about his health but the fact is, is that this is hopefully not repairable. He is the president of the United States.
JOE SCARBOROUGH, MSNBC CO-HOST, "MORNING JOE": You mean, you hope it is repairable?
PELOSI: Yes, yes. Yes, it's not irreparable.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Irreparable. Yes.
(LAUGHTER)
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GUILFOYLE: Interesting. All right. Well the house minority leader also can't keep straight who's actually living in the White House.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PELOSI: First he tries to charm you. President Bush tries to charm you. Did I say President Bush? I'm sorry, I meant to say -- it's hard for me to say it you know.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GUILFOYLE: And then there was this abomination this morning from Democratic New York senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SEN. KIRSTEN GILLIBAND, D-NEW YORK: Has he kept any of these promises? No. (BLEEP) no. Instead, sorry, I understand the younger audience. It's OK. Fundamentally, if we are not helping people, we should go the (BLEEP) home.
(END VIDEO CLI)
GUILFOYLE: All right, I mean, her approval rating is like zero (ph) or something.
DANA PERINO: Not the first.
GUILFOYLE: She's unhinged, losing it. What's going on there, Greg?
GUTFELD: It's part of the shallow ease at which you can please liberals. It's swearing. Comedians now do this. They just say "F" Trump and they know that they get more applause than if they actually sat down and wrote a decent joke. That's why a lot of comedians you see with this which aren't funny are relying on Trump humor because they don't have to work that hard and they still get the same applause.
But with Pelosi, you know, people in glass houses shouldn't throw Botox. She has the charm of a rug burn.
GUILFOYLE: Al right, but she actually might going to be having a serious problem. You see it's not the first time.
PERINO: Well, I think that -- she has said that she thinks the Democrats are getting way too far out calling for impeachment. But she also knows that in order to keep that money flowing into the Democratic coffers, she has to throw a little red meat out there and questioning the president's mental stability is probably a good way for her to do that because it actually gets those people they're e-mailing to try to respond.
GUILFOYLE: But she's not the best messenger for that because --
PERINO: The point of how the swearing on stage, this isn't the first. Remember, just about a month ago, it was the DNC chairman Tom Perez who was basically a foul mouth at an event, and then Senator Kamala Harris at a recent event in Silicon Valley when she was on stage. But if you listen to the audience, they're all yelling and clapping and applauding.
They love it. They're laughing. And as Greg has pointed out so many times that politics is downstream from culture and as the culture (INAUDIBLE) this becomes more acceptable. Now, we can complain about it. I'm sure she wouldn't like it if her children said something like that but I don't think it's going to stop because the Democrats get to that kind of response from their audience. They don't care what we think.
GUILFOYLE: Feeding the beast. All right, Jesse.
WATTERS: I think Trump brings out the best in people and the worst in people. On the good side, you know, he's gotten a lot of people rich and he's made a lot people TV stars but on the other side, he makes the left become so self-destructive and so vile. I mean, he's driven the media to push fake news stories which has now ruined their credibility.
He's driven Democrats, to lie, to cry, and to put on their little tinfoil hats. He's driven celebrities to use the N-word, to behead, to just, you know, get fired and he's driven people on college campuses to riot and like chase their little safe spaces. On the swearing, I mean Democrats are supposed to be about protecting the children and they're supposed to be the party that is sophisticated and they're doing the exact opposite.
I think right now is in order to get attention in the Trump news cycle you have to say explicit things or else you're not going to get any play. And I think they want to show their base, I'm just as angry about President Trump as you are.
GUILFOYLE: All fired up. All right, Juan, what do you think of it?
WILLIAMS: Well, I'm just stunned.
GUTFELD: You're always stunned.
WILLIAMS: Because I believe you and I should -- listen, I appreciate what you guys say so I listen. I want to make sure that I don't disrespect the importance of your argument but when I know --
WATTERS: Try a little harder.
WILLIAMS: What I hear about President Trump is he's a guy who said that Hillary Clinton got blanked by President Obama. I know he's the guy who said that companies that go overseas you should tell them to go "F" themselves.
He's the guy who said that if there was in fact Obama wiretapping, that Obama was in deep you know, something. I know that this is the guy that his Republican colleague, you know, Ted Cruz, said he's a pathological liar but he's also a profane man. And then he kind of dirties up the place and other people come in and they start to emulate him because I think Jesse is onto something. They want to have the same impact. They want to engage him on his terms.
GUTFELD: He's broken the seal of swearing. It's a bull in a china shop. You're right. It has affected everybody in the way they speak. You can actually get away with more now unless you're Reza Aslan. But you can't get away. I feel like -- maybe it's a good thing.
WILLIAMS: Oh, no. I think -- this is what I said the other day. I think civil discourse in our country is at such low levels. It pains me that you can't have a real discussion anymore.
GUTFELD: Go to hell, Juan.
WILLIAMS: Thank you.
(LAUGHTER)
GUILFOYLE: When we return --
GUTFELD: I'm joking.
WILLIAMS: I'm hurt.
GUILFOYLE: -- Rosie O'Donnell is defending a leaker who says she wants to bring down the White House. Details ahead.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
WILLIAMS: Welcome back. The Trump presidency has sent Rosie O'Donnell off the rails. Remember this?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
ROSIE O'DONNELL, ACTRESS: This is not Russia. To Donald Trump and his pathetic band of white, privileged criminal businessmen, I would like to say to him, nyet, sir. Nyet! Nyet! Nyet! No we won't. We've seen what you have done, sir. We have seen you're connections with Russia. The game is over. The internet rules.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
WILLIAMS: Rosie had so much animus with the president, she's now donating money to the Defense Fund for the first person charged by the Trump administration with leaking classified information. What did you say? What did you say?
PERINO: I said Comey said he is --
WILLIAMS: Oh no, we're talking about reality winner.
(CROSSTALK)
WILLIAMS: An intelligence contractor named Reality Winner has written about joining the Taliban according to prosecutors and she has also said that she wants to burn down the White House. This was all on her e-mail or whatever. Anyway, in a tweet, O'Donnell refers to Reality Winner as a "brave young patriot" and gave as I said, her Defense Fund $1,000.
PERINO: I feel really strongly about this.
WILLIAMS: Go right ahead.
PERINO: Well, you know, you want to ruin some more young women's lives? Go ahead and do this and eg them on. They will end up in jail. She's 25-years- old. She made a huge mistake. She broke the law. She said some terrible things on Facebook but you know what, a lot of people have. OK, that is probably forgivable.
The Secret Service could check that out and say look, she's going to be fine. She served in the Air Force, whatever. Please don't say that anymore. But if Rosie O'Donnell thinks that egging them on isn't going to actually, one, improve the country one iota, absolutely not. But you want to ruin her life and other lives like that? Go right ahead and do that.
This is a huge consequence of President Obama pardoning Chelsey Manning because Reality Winner thought that, well, I'll get pardoned too or she didn't have the presence of mind as I've said before, to call the Chinese or the Russians and say, hey, can you bail me out of here and I could live in your embassy for the next 80 years of my life. I think it's terrible what Rosie O'Donnell did. Absolutely inappropriate and irresponsible.
WILLIAMS: What's interesting, if you think she's been a role model because we're going to come to Chelsey Manning in a second. She gave her first interview recently, but Jesse, just to stay for a second with Reality Winner, the argument from her lawyer is look, she's a millennial.
She's very computer savvy and she was a brilliant student in high school, a star student. She chose to go to the U.S. military. Six years in the Air Force. Speaks Farsi and Arabic and he says the government is just scraping and clawing to make a case out of nothing.
WATTERS: I don't think a good defense strategy is to call her a millennial, Juan.
(LAUGHTER)
GUILFOYLE: That will get her an extra 10 years.
WATTERS: Why does the left lionize traders? I mean it's like you bomb the Pentagon and then you become Obama's best friend. You know, you're Chelsea Manning, and then you get clemency. If you're a cop killer, you know, the celebrities love you. Jane Fonda celebrated in Hollywood. Oliver Stone made some --
PERINO: On Monday, de Blasio is going to march in a parade with a terrorist from Puerto Rico.
WATTERS: Terrorist marching in prison (ph). I don't know why the left does this but for some reason, I mean, they put you on a pedestal. If Benedict Arnold were around today, he'd probably have his own HBO show. It doesn't make sense to me Juan. It had to get your act together. Kimberly.
GUILFOYLE: I guess. So prosecutors also said that this winner, I mean, loser, said to her sister I'm going to braid my hair and I'm going to cry in court and like put on this whole act. I mean the whole thing is outrageous and she shouldn't be treated any differently than if this was a 55-year-old man who committed the crime. She's a leaker. She's not even any good at it. I mean she's so obvious. They caught her in two seconds.
PERINO: That's why they shouldn't have young people that don't know what the heck they're doing.
GUILFOYLE: Right. So what about the background checks here? How did she, you know, get through. When you look at those trails, she said she wants to go fight on the side of the Mullahs in Iran. She wants to burn down the White House?
WILLIAMS: In support of your argument, which I happen to disagree with, the judge -- the reason they didn't release her --
GUILFOYLE: You think all those things are good?
WILLIAMS: No, I'm saying the reason the judge didn't release here Kimberly, was he said, you know, the fact that you're telling of burning the White House concerns me, and he didn't allow her family, Greg, to put bond on her.
GUILFOYLE: Yes, I know.
GUTFELD: I think that this woman should be rewarded. She said that her dream was to pledge allegiance to the Taliban and move to Kurdistan. I think we should allow that to happen, actually get her there as soon as possible and let's see how her strong feminist outlook survives the Taliban.
GUILFOYLE: Right.
GUTFELD: By the way, I am now boycotting this show. We had two Maroon 5 songs on. We're never supposed to play Maroon 5, OK? I don't know what producer is putting Maroon 5 on this show. You better stop.
PERINO: We're going to have an investigation.
WILLIAMS: Kimberly, I want you to get him because he's leaked this information. Get him Kimberly. Prosecute him Kimberly.
GUILFOYLE: Yes, no bail for you.
WILLIAMS: -- I'd go with you.
GUTFELD: This is "The Five," not Maroon 5!
WILLIAMS: All right, stay right there, "Facebook Friday" coming right at you.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
GUILFOYLE: Oh, my god.
GUTFELD: Greatest song ever. That is one of the greatest songs ever written, and no words. Take that, Adam Levine or Adam latrine. All right, first Facebook question from Jeff T., "If you could star in one blockbuster movie from the past 25 years, what would it be," Juan?
WILLIAMS: Oh, the past 25 years? How about Clint Eastwood in "Bridges of Madison County?" Doesn't he fall in love with something?
GUTFELD: Yes. He ended up hooking up with Meryl Streep I guess.
WILLIAMS: That's pretty good. But anyway --
GUTFELD: That's it. You can only say one.
WILLIAMS: OK.
GUTFELD: One for Juan. Kimberly?
GUILFOYLE: "Wonder Woman."
GUTFELD: Oh, there you go.
WILLIAMS: I like that.
GUILFOYLE: I'm the best costume but now I get to get the new one because there's a hold situation.
GUTFELD: Yes. Do you think the guy who created "Wonder Woman" was totally into bondage? Anyway, -- that's not (ph) serious, that's why he created it. If you look at the old stuff, it's all about women being tied up.
GUILFOYLE: You know what, you just ruined it.
GUTFELD: I tried. Jesse?
WATTERS: I'm going to go with "Waterworld."
GUTFELD: What?
WILLIAMS: That wasn't a plug --
(CROSSTALK)
WATTERS: That was a bomb, wasn't it?
WILLIAMS: You need a --
WATTERS: If I was in it, it would probably be a bomb (ph)
GUTFELD: So you'd be underwater talking to the fish. (INAUDIBLE)
(LAUGHTER)
GUILFOYLE: Oh my god.
WATTERS: Crickets.
PERINO: -- Hillary Clinton.
GUTFELD: Then a shark would eat you.
WATTERS: Yes.
GUTFELD: And Media Matters would apply.
PERINO: I can't remember -- what's the name of the movie with Reese Witherspoon where she's the lawyer?
GUTFELD: "Pretty in Pink?"
PERINO: "Election." "Election."
GUTFELD: "Election." You are "Election." I'm kidding.
PERINO: "Legally Blonde?" OK, either one of those. I like them.
GUTFELD: I'm tied between "Evil Dead 2." I'd like to ask fighting the zombies in the woods or Frank Booth in "Blue Velvet," my favorite movie of all time. He plays a homicidal maniac. Anyway, I was going to say "the Zodiac" but that might offend people. Al right, if you were a dog --
GUILFOYLE: You haven't done it yet tonight.
GUTFELD: Mike G., "If you were a dog, what breed of dog would you be,"
Dana?
PERINO: I'm going to go with Vizsla. I'm a big fan as you might know. I like the Vizsla very much.
GUTFELD: All right.
GUILFOYLE: And him?
GUTFELD: What about you?
WATTERS: Shih Tzu is the obvious answer.
GUILFOYLE: Oh my god.
GUTFELD: -- done.
(CROSSTALK)
GUILFOYLE: You haven't?
PERINO: Did they bleep you?
WATTERS: No.
GUTFELD: No, you don't have to. That's a legitimate word.
GUILFOYLE: I have -- that's what I have.
GUTFELD: You have that?
GUILFOYLE: Three.
GUTFELD: I have to go to the doctor.
GUILFOYLE: No.
GUTFELD: Oh, you mean the dog? Anyway, Juan, what kind of dog would you be? This is like Barbara Walters question.
WILLIAMS: The thing is the dog that I like I think is kind of elegant is a Greyhound, but they torture those dogs terribly.
PERINO: No, no, they have good lives, the ones that are taken care of appropriately.
GUTFELD: The retired.
WILLIAMS: I read so much about how they help the people in foster care, take them from the tracks.
GUTFELD: Way to bring this down.
WATTERS: Kimberly, did you pick a dog?
GUILFOYLE: Well, I have three dogs, a Shih Tzu -- I have one Shih Tzu and two Shih Poo's.
WATTERS: What's a Shih Poo?
GUILFOYLE: Shih Tzu Poodle mix.
GUTFELD: I would like to be a prairie dog, just out in the prairie. Dig little holes and come up every now and then and just hang out.
PERINO: -- a lot.
GUTFELD: Well, I would find the right place. I'd be in a gun free zone. OK. Nancy M., this is a good question, "Do you cook and what is your best dish? OK, quickly, Kimberly.
GUILFOYLE: You know what it is.
PERINO: Salami?
GUILFOYLE: Salami.
GUTFELD: But you don't have to cook salami.
GUILFOYLE: So?
GUTFELD: There you go.
GUILFOYLE: Slice.
GUTFELD: Juan, what do you cook?
WILLIAMS: You know I don't cook much anymore, but I used to make bread.
PERINO: Wow.
GUTFELD: Wow!
WILLIAMS: I used to take a lot of flour. I love it. Fresh bread. Hot bread. Man, I'm telling you.
GUTFELD: That's amazing. Jesse?
WATTERS: I don't cook, I grill.
GUTFELD: Yikes.
WATTERS: And when I do cook, it's a chicken surprise.
GUTFELD: Because you're surprised?
WATTERS: Everybody is surprised I can cook.
(LAUGHTER)
GUTFELD: Exactly.
PERINO: I don't really have time to cook but when I do I make a good blue cheese heaven.
GUTFELD: What's that?
PERINO: So you take lots of different vegetables, stir fry them until they just about get tender and then you put them in a bowl and you put blue cheese crumbles on top of that. Stir it all up and you take sourdough toast and then put a thin layer of horseradish sauce. Put it all on top and that's your blue cheese heaven.
GUTFELD: All right. So I make a really --
GUILFOYLE: You need a slow cooker and you're very good.
GUTFELD: I make a really great dish called salt and pepper pork chops. Here's what I do. I call to China King and I say I'd like salt and pepper pork chops well done and then they send it to me and I pick it up and I put it on a plate. Sometimes I eat over the kitchen sink because I'm lonely. "One More Thing" is up next.
GUILFOYLE: Oh, my god. So sad.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
WATTERS: Time now for "One More Thing." Dana.
PERINO: All right, today President George H. W. Bush congratulated the Yale baseball team on a terrific season. This year, they were the Ivy League champions. They set a new school record for the most wins and the trip to the NCAA tournament with multiple wins in 70 years.
The last time this happened was 1948 when George H.W. Bush was a senior and captain of the team. Yale lost to Oregon State in the playoffs, who are considered the top team of the country, but the whole team came to Kennebunkport to have their picture taken with the president. I love it.
WATTERS: Beautiful. Greg Gutfeld.
GUTFELD: All right, tomorrow night, Saturday, 10:00, another amazing show. I got Bjorn Lomborg, he's a genius. I got Emily Compagno, she is great. And Tom Shillue is OK. It's time for this, "I Hate These People." All right, put up this quote I saw from The New York Times two days ago. Do you have it there? "I wouldn't be surprised if I took half days or the day off."
This is about the Comey hearing. This person said, "If I had a normal job, I don't know what I'd be doing."
Just the assumption that people were taking the day off shows you how remote you are from the rest of America. Every body who wasn't in the media was at work.
(LAUGHTER)
WATTERS: And even some of us here weren't working.
GUTFELD: Yes.
WATTERS: Kimberly Guilfoyle.
GUILFOYLE: Thank you, Jesse. So, patriot alert. How cute is this?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
GUILFOYLE: The little baby boy is very sweet. Only seven-years-old (INAUDIBLE) babies. And he was -- during his play time, he stopped to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. He had been thinking he said about, "all the people that died for our country and the troops. I once saw ISIS stepping and burning on our flag and I got really mad. I knew they were bad people and I knew they hate Americans. I just want to support all Americans. He said so, if they have to fight ISIS, they can have some support. Very cute. Seven year-old boy to be able to do that. Wyatt Warner is his name in Salt Lake City, Utah.
WATTERS: Excellent. I was off yesterday. Some of you may or may not have noticed.
GUTFELD: What did you do this time?
WATTERS: I was golfing with some friends I my --
PERINO: Was this pre-arranged?
(CROSSTALK)
WATTERS: That never gets old. I was raising some money for my children's school. I played terribly. I was useless out there.
GUILFOYLE: Because you were drinking too much.
WATTERS: I wanted to thank everybody for helping me out. And on this --
PERINO: Wait, is that Sean Fox?
WATTERS: -- "Watters World" show -- no. No one is going to be identified in that picture -- 8:00 eastern and we have the family member of Brian Terry, the border patrol agent who was shot and killed. They re-opened up an investigation into fast and furious. There are some damning and alarming evidence that we're going to get into so check this out. Juan Williams.
WILLIAMS: Well, you know, high school graduation season, it's in full swing. There are so many wonderful family stories and we have one here at Fox News Channel. Our colleague Brit Hume went to his granddaughter, Claire's high school graduation this week and here you can see here with the head of the school. She graduated from Holton-Arms outside D.C. and Brit, my man, he prepared a special surprise for her. The keys to his 2011 white sedan. What a great gift.
There he is with Claire, and she was ecstatic but no more beaming than Brit Hume. Look at how happy they both are. We wish Claire all the best in the world. And a tip of the hat to Brit for being just such a great granddad. A model for me, Brit.
PERINO: Great job.
WATTERS: I thought it was food court today? There was cupcakes or doughnuts in the other room?
PERINO: There is also (INAUDIBLE) tomorrow.
GUILFOYLE: No, well, because he wanted to do the rose but --
PERINO: You're going to have to up your game next week, K.G.
WATTERS: Never miss an episode of "The Five." Have a great weekend. "Hannity" is up next.
