SEAN HANNITY, HOST: Welcome back to Media Mash. We continue with Brent Bozell from the Media Research Center. He's with us tonight.
All right, there's a new show on MTV and it's called "Skins." They've got this one picture promo it almost looks like all young kids like an orgy all over each other, half naked, some -- you know, et cetera, et cetera.
The New York Times goes into this article today they find out MTV executives were so concerned they thought it was so -- quote -- "damn racy" that they worried they would be arrested for child porn. Executives ordered producers to make changes to tone down the content. They became concerned it might violate child pornography statutes, et cetera, et cetera.
Well, that's the case, either this is a PR move or maybe if they felt that way, maybe the feds should go in and confiscate the tape. In other words, the unedited tape, what do you think?
BRENT BOZELL, MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER: Sean, this is not a PR move. They are in trouble. They've crossed the line in the way no TV show to my memory has ever crossed the line.
This is a show about teenaged, under-aged kids involved in drugs and alcohol and sex and orgies and you name the debauchery.
But here's the kicker, it features under-aged children. They broadcast the fact that it is under-aged teenagers that they are putting on the air, doing these things.
And guess what, here's one thing that will really get to you. It's rated TV-MA. That's the highest rating you can get on television. That means it's rated for mature audiences. That means it is rated for adults. This is a program they're giving to adults about children.
Do you know what we call that, Sean, in the real world? It's called kiddie porn. And they are now calls for the Justice Department to investigate MTV. They could be responsible for a federal crime here. This is serious.
HANNITY: All right, listen, we can't even show this picture on TV here, but it's all these kids laying all over each other, a lot of them half naked, you know, hands everywhere, et cetera, et cetera. And it's, you know, beyond explicit content.
What do you think should happen? Should the feds get all of this unedited tape that they thought that might bring them up on charges of kiddie porn?
See, I think there's a PR element of this here, Brent because I think they know everybody is going to start talking about it.
(CROSSTALK)
BOZELL: They got great audiences. You got bursting hormones with little kids being offered this. They know they are going to get children to come. They know they're going to get youngsters to watch this.
I mean, this is the decadence of MTV. And this is what they've done for years. But the point is, for their executives to be saying that they had no idea that this was going to get them in trouble -- how dare they?
How could they not know it is wrong to feature children involved in sex and drugs and alcohol? How can they know there was nothing wrong with that?
I hope, I hope that the feds look into this. I hope that if it is determined they've done something wrong, I hope they slap the book at these people for once and for all.
HANNITY: It's totally despicable, but there's interesting point on Mediaite, which is a media website, where they said, you know, they rushed the episode. All of a sudden they thought they had broken child porn laws. And then just for kicks, they decided to call up The New York Times and have them report the whole thing.
Wait a minute, if they really thought they were breaking kiddie porn laws, why would you contact The New York Times?
BOZELL: I think there are some people -- Sean, I think there are some people inside of MTV who are absolutely clueless. I think they think this is the funniest thing in the world. I think they're just laughing about this. They think it's a PR move. What I'm saying is it may be a crime!
(CROSSTALK)
BOZELL: Let's see who laughs last.
HANNITY: All right, I can't let you leave -- this is our media bias segment -- without your reaction to Stephen Cohen's referring to Republicans as Nazis and Sheila Jackson Lee suggesting if you repeal Obamacare you are going to kill people. But I want your reaction to the tape we've been playing.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
REP. STEVEN COHEN, D-TENN: They say it's a government takeover of health care, a big lie just like Goebbels. You say it enough -- you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie and eventually people believe it like blood libel. That's the same kind of thing. The Germans said enough about the Jews and the people believed it and you had the Holocaust.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
HANNITY: Your reaction?
BOZELL: Sean, blood libel, where have I heard that was controversial? Yes, Sarah Palin, I'm sorry.
HANNITY: Only for conservatives, Brent, come on.
BOZELL: Yes, look, a man says "you lie" and it is news for a month. This thing will be forgotten in a day. But this is the character assassination of the conservative movement. These people are being ugly about this. They know they are on the ropes -- it's personal attacks from here on out.
HANNITY: All right, Brent Bozell. Thanks for being with us.
