'Red Eye' Tequila Don Julio Cocktails

Brian Van Flandern, Tequila Don Julio Global Brand Ambassador, mixed up these delicious libations in honor of his favorite late-night cable news program:

• The "Red Eye" Opener
Yield: 1 drink

Ingredients:
1 1/2 ounces Tequila Don Julio Blanco
3/4 ounces Moscato d’Asti sparkling wine
1/4 ounces fresh lime juice
1/2 ounces simple syrup
1 ounce cucumber juice
Rambutan cross-section for garnish

Preparation:
Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and cucumber juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well and strain into a highball glass.
Top with Muscato Di'Asti sparkling wine.
Slice rambutan into a cross-section and garnish with the cross-section for the "Red Eye" appearance.

Ideal serving glass: highball glass

• In the Blink of a "Red Eye"
Yield: 1 drink

Ingredients:
1/2 ounce Tequila Don Julio Blanco
1/4 ounce grenadine syrup
1/2 ounce tonic water
Flamed orange peel for garnish

Preparation:
Combine Tequila Don Julio Blanco, grenadine syrup, and tonic water into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake well and strain contents into a shot glass.
Garnish with a flamed orange peel.

Ideal serving glass: Fancy shot glass
