Markets, Banks to Close for Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

Many in the financial world will take a breather on today in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Bank branches will be closed across the country and the markets, including the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq, will also be shuttered for the day. The exchanges will reopen on Tuesday, January 16.

It marks the third time already this year that the markets have been closed. The exchanges have already shut for New Year's Day, and to honor the death of former President Gerald Ford.
