Florida Woman Uses Crossbow to Bag Giant Gator on First Hunt

Published January 14, 2015

Fox News

A Satellite Beach, Fla., woman nabbed a major kill on her first alligator hunt this week, killing an 11-foot, 500-pound beast with a cross bow, MyFOX Orlando reported.

Arianne Prevost, 23, spotted the gator in the St. Johns River during a statewide public alligator hunt. She had chartered an airboat with Capt. Peter Deeks of Native Sons Outfitters and her boyfriend Robert Rohmann, also of Native Sons.

“An 11-footer is a true trophy in anyone's book,” Deeks, who led the hunt, told MyFOX Orlando. “Arianne made two perfect shots with her crossbow to secure the trophy, before quickly dispatching it with a broadhead. This makes it a trophy archery kill.”

A local taxidermist will mount the alligator's head and the animal's meat will be processed for food.
