Court Awards Custody of Robert Blake's Child to His Daughter

Robert Blake's daughter won custody Thursday of the 2-year-old girl the actor fathered with the woman he is accused of killing.

Superior Court Commissioner H. Ronald Hauptman granted Delinah Blake permanent custody of her half-sister, Rose.

She has taken care of the child at her Hidden Hills home for nearly two years and won temporary custody in May.

The child's mother, Bonny Lee Bakley, was shot to death May 4, 2001, outside a Studio City restaurant. Robert Blake, 68, was arrested April 18 and charged with her murder. He remains jailed pending trial.

Bakley's sister, Margerry Bakley, challenged the custody arrangements but her request to continue the hearing was denied.

"I never had a problem with Delinah retaining custody," Bakley said outside court. "I just wanted to keep the door open to visitation ... I'd like to be part of Rosie's life. She's the only extension of my sister we'll ever have."

Bakley also said she didn't want Robert Blake to have contact with the infant if he is released on bail.
