Canadian Electrician Allegedly Tries to Electrocute Wife in Shower, Flees in High-Speed Chase

A 60-year-old Canadian electrician was charged with assault after allegedly using his craft to try to kill his wife, The Toronto Sun reported on Thursday.

Durham Regional Police told The Sun that the suspect, whose name has not been released, attempted to electrocute his wife while she showered in their Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, home by attaching some of the electrical wiring to the plumbing in the shower.

The woman claims she suffered several electrical shocks while adjusting the knobs in the shower on Sunday. She said her husband told her it was a build-up of static electricity. The next day she found a section of drywall missing and noticed the re-wiring job, The Sun reported.

Durham police told The Sun that when the woman confronted her husband he choked her to near unconsciousness and then fled the home. She then called police, who spotted the suspect’s car on a local highway, but attempts to pull him over ended in a high-speed chase reaching 105 mph.

Police said they found on the passenger’s seat a note reading, "I am so sorry for everything that has happened. You are a good woman and none of this is your fault. You deserve better than I could be."

The suspect has been charged with mischief endangering life, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm and failing to stop for police, The Toronto Sun reported.
