After hitting the fourth-fewest home runs in the National League this past season, the New York Mets will be moving the outfield walls at Citi Field closer to home plate.
The Mets said Monday they will move in the walls in left and right field and lower the home run line to eight feet. They said the wall will be as much as 12 feet closer to home plate.
Their 108 home runs this year beat only the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates among NL teams. They hit just 50 of the homers at Citi Field, which opened in 2009.
