Man jumps off London's Tower Bridge in taxi protest over Olympic roadwork

London police reportedly arrested a protester after he took a leap off the Tower Bridge into the River Thames Monday during a taxi driver demonstration over their exclusion from part of an Olympic Games road network.

Police pulled the unidentified man from the water and arrested him on a public order offense, Reuters reports.

He had been participating in a protest by London taxi drivers over a decision to ban them from part of a road network reserved for Olympic athletes.

The drivers reportedly fear they will be stuck in congestion and lose revenue during the Games.

The landmark Tower Bridge is designed to allow tall ships to sail through. It is next to the Tower of London from which it takes its name. Olympic rings are hanging from the suspension bridge to celebrate the 2012 London Games.
