Indians place Hafner on DL

Published November 20, 2014

The Cleveland Indians placed designated hitter Travis Hafner on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with lower back inflammation.

Injuries have limited Hafner over the past several years. He has played 100 games in only one of the previous four seasons. In 60 games this year, Hafner is batting .239 with a .355 on-base percentage and .453 slugging percentage.

To replace Hafner on the roster, the Indians recalled infielder Jason Donald from Triple-A Columbus. In 18 major league games in 2012, Donald has nine hits in 48 at-bats.
