The New York Jets are unable to be major players in free agency because of the rules of the uncapped year. However, they still have found a way to obtain a marquee player.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Jets are on the verge of a deal with the Chargers to trade for cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
Sources have told FOXSports.com the deal will send Cromartie to the Jets in exchange for a high conditional 2011 draft pick. It is believed to be a second or a third.
Barring a last-second collapse, this deal is expected to be done shortly.
