If Donald Trump is running for president, he sure has a unique foreign policy strategy picked out for dealing with despots like Libyan leader Muammar al-Qaddafi: screw him.

In a wide-ranging phone interview on "Fox & Friends" Monday morning, Trump offered an anecdote about a business deal he once had with Qaddafi that ended poorly for the embattled dictator-but great for Trump.

"I rented him a piece of land. He paid more for one night than the land was worth for the whole year, or two years, and then I didn't let him use the land," Trump began.

"I don't want to use the word ‘screwed,' but I screwed him."

"That should be the thinking of this country, not the kind of thinking we have right now. It's ridiculous," Trump continued, referring to the current U.S. plan for Libya that does not include targeting Qaddafi for assassination.

The Qaddafi family is known for having amassed incredible wealth--over $30 billion in Qaddafi-related assets have been frozen worldwide--in a country with a per capita GDP of just under $14 thousand.

Anchor Alysin Camerota joked that Trump buried the lead, taking nearly six minutes of this first interview in a weekly Fox & Friends engagement to reveal his prior Qaddafi dealings. Asked why the powerful businessman decided to renege on this transaction, Trump had only this to say:

"Because I wanted to!"
