Ted Cruz is looking for new digs.

They purportedly will serve as the Texas lawmaker’s command center for a potential 2016 candidacy for president, reports U.S. News & World Report.

The publication says that Cruz, who has become one of the most headline-generating members of Congress despite the fact that he’s only a freshman U.S. senator, has dispatched staffers to check out rentable locations in Houston.

Houston is home to Cruz and his family.

U.S. News & World Report said it received the information from sources who have knowledge about Cruz’s efforts to find a place that could serve as his presidential campaign headquarters.

“The quiet decision to begin searching for a campaign headquarters location is the latest indication of Cruz's seriousness about a White House bid,” said the publication.

An unnamed source is said to have told the publication that Cruz wants to conduct a poll to see how feasible a presidential run would be before he makes a final decision.

"Cruz is a big data guy. He's big on polling, big on data. He's going to want to poll and none of those conversations are happening," the source said, according to U.S. News & World report. "My gut tells me he runs."

An analysis by U.S. News & World Report shows that Cruz was at the top of the list of potential 2016 candidates who have the most trips to "the first three nominating states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina."

This year, Cruz has made several trips to Iowa, the state that kicks off presidential voting. He leads in the number of trips to Iowa among other lawmakers who have been named as potential 2016 presidential candidates.
