SCOTUS Watch: The Joke's on Us

Published December 24, 2015

Fox News

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs played a joke at the very top of his briefing today telling reporters that the President would announce his Supreme Court nominee tomorrow, Saturday, at 630am.

He paused long enough (3 seconds) that reporters took him seriously, until he finally said, "Gotcha, I'm done. That's obviously a joke, but I did love to see, that uh, somebody can quickly text me the name of a chiropractor because at least four dozen necks snapped in one direction."

But in all seriousness, nothing new to report about a Scotus announcement than what we already knew  -- that it will probably come next week.

Gibbs did make a second reference to the 630am announcement joke later in the briefing - so for all you transcript readers out there - it's just a joke.
