President Obama expressed "unwavering support" for the people of Haiti after Tuesday's catastrophic earthquake.

"We are just now beginning to learn the extent of the devastation. But the reports and images that we've seen of collapsed hospitals, crumbled homes and men and women carrying their injured neighbors through the streets are truly heart-wrenching," Mr. Obama said.

In addition to mobilizing aid for the victims of the earthquake, the President said his administration is also trying to locate U.S. Embassy employees and their families in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince in addition to other Americans who live in Haiti.

"Americans trying to locate family members in Haiti are encouraged to contact the State Department at 888-407-4747," he announced.

Mr. Obama was scheduled to go to Maryland this afternoon to discuss clean energy jobs, but Fox News has learned that the President will remain at the White House to monitor Haitian earthquake relief efforts and to continue intense health care negotiations with Democrats.
