No Coverage for Illegal Aliens, Says White House

Published December 24, 2015

Fox News

According to White House officials, the president's health care plan will not provide coverage to illegal aliens residing in the United States. An official said undocumented workers would receive no subsidies to participate in health care insurance, which matches the prohibition in the pending House bill.

Further, the official said illegal aliens would be prohibited from purchasing insurance through Obama's proposed health insurance exchange. This means the administration is backing a tough form of screening that envisions weeding out illegal immigrants who use their own money to seek coverage through the government-backed insurance exchange.

The official clarified one point that was left murky in today's briefing with Press Secretary Robert Gibbs -- that resident aliens, meaning immigrants who have obtained a green card through the existing immigration process, would be allowed to purchase insurance coverage through the exchange.
