Charles Krauthammer said Wednesday on “Special Report with Bret Baier”  that Donald Trump's “ego...would restrain him from running as a third party” after the businessman told CNN's Don Lemon that he has options if the Republican party doesn't treat him “as the front-runner.”

A new Fox News poll revealed Wednesday Trump leading at 35% among likely South Carolina Republican primary voters, with the next closest contender, retired neurosurgeon, Dr. Ben Carson, at 15%.

"I suspect though that his ego ... would restrain him from running as a third party," the syndicated columnist and Fox News contributor said. "It's gonna be a lot harder than he thinks. And there will be a bar, sort of an invisible bar and I think that's going to be the Ross Perot number of 19 percent. I don't think he would come anywhere near that in a general election, and that will be his mark on history, and I don't think he likes to be seen as a loser."
