Ivanka and Eric Trump will not be voting for their father, Donald Trump, in the upcoming New York Republican primary, the GOP frontrunner confirmed Monday.

The Empire State’s April 19 primary is a closed primary – meaning it is not open to those not registered as Republicans. Trump told "Fox and Friends" that they had both missed the deadline to register as members of the GOP. When asked, the business mogul didn’t think the deadline was unfair, however.

"No. They had a long time to register and they were, you know, unaware of the rules, and they didn't, they didn't register in time," Trump said. "So they feel very, very guilty."

"Are you cutting off their allowance?" Fox News’ Steve Doocy asked jokingly.

"Yes. No more allowance," Trump responded.

Donald Trump Jr. is a registered Republican in New York and so will be able to vote in the primary.

Recent polls show Trump with a comfortable lead over Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich. A Fox News poll released Sunday shows Trump dominating with 54 percent support among likely GOP primary voters. Kasich garners 22 percent and Ted Cruz is third with 15 percent.
