Blink and you'll miss it!

The Senate will be in session briefly at 10:00 a.m. ET Thursday to pass a $600 million border security bill. It's identical to the legislation that the House passed on Tuesday during their brief break from the August recess. The measure would fund 1,000 new border patrol agents and 250 customs and border protection officers along the southwestern border with Mexico. Democrats will try to pass the legislation through a unanimous consent request, which will require at least two of their members (one to preside over the Senate Chamber and one to ask for the request) to be present.

The Senate will also pass a resolution honoring the late, legendary former Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, who died in a plane crash on Monday.

Republicans likely will not have anyone present for this brief session.
