Confirmed: US to send ambassador to Syria

President Obama plans to restore a U.S. Ambassador to Syria after an absence of more than four years-a White House official tells Fox News. Jeffrey D. Feltman, the acting assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs, informed Syria's ambassador to the United States of the decision on Tuesday night.
