Bristol Palin is causing an Internet stir, as she once again managed to maintain survival over her competitors, after the 7th week of coming into the weekly results show of ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" in last place with her partner Mark Ballas. Some have suggested foul voter play--particularly that supporters of her mother, Sarah Palin, are voting illegally in blocs and manipulating the system.
After a pop-culture voting upset, 31-year-old singer and actress Brandy learned Tuesday that she was eliminated and Bristol Palin will be freestyling her way across the stage for the prized mirrorball trophy in next week's final competition. Viewers' votes are measured in a combination with the judges scores to determine who moves on in the competition each week.
"I don't know how to feel right now. This hasn't processed right now for me," a surprised Brandy said, after dancing a nearly perfectly scored Argentinean tango on Monday night, receiving 57 points out of a possible total of 60 from the judges. Bristol, age 20, brought in the lowest amount of points of the show's four contenders, 53 out of 60, though it was her personal best on the show to date.
Some studio audience members booed in the final minutes of Tuesday's results show when host Tom Bergeron made the announcement.
In an extreme case of viewer outrage, court documents show that a 67-year-old Wisconsin man allegedly blasted his TV with a shotgun after watching Bristol Palin's routine, sparking an all-night standoff with a SWAT team. He felt Palin was not a good dancer, and it is unclear whether he was a Brandy fan.
In addition to Palin, Kyle Massey and Jennifer Grey will compete to be named the new champion on Nov. 23.
