A Presidential Visit and a Friendly Crowd, but No Feingold

President Obama is heading to Milwaukee for the city's big Labor Day celebration. He'll give remarks and cheer the blue-collar men and women of the Badger State. But embattled incumbent Sen. Russ Feingold, D-Wis., will not be with him.

Feingold, a favorite of the labor movement for his stances on trade and other issues, will be at events in Janesville and Kensosha on Monday, according to his official schedule.

A press release from his office has Feingold hitting the festivities in Milwaukee early Monday before Obama arrives and well down the road, by the time Air Force One touches down at Mitchell Airport.

When Obama visited Wisconsin last month, Feingold showed up to greet him at the airport and told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "I will stand with the president of the United States anywhere, anytime, no hesitation. I'm proud of what this president has tried to do."

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, locked in a tight race for governor, is scheduled to appear with Obama at the rally.
