Gretchen's take: Time to simplify the tax code

Yep. It's Tax Day. Not like I'm celebrating. In fact the only good news may be that for those of us paying taxes -- we're all in the same boat. So, I don't know about you but more than ever I'm ready to join the fight to simplify our tax code. Come up with a different plan. And I'm not alone. Even former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is weighing in -- once again posting his letter to the IRS on his facebook page ...

Saying that he has "no idea whether our tax returns and the tax payment estimates are accurate" ... "despite the fact that I went to college" and "we try hard to make sure our returns and payments are accurate." He goes on to say that "I hope that at some point in my lifetime, and I am now in my 80's, the U.S. government will radically simplify the U.S. tax code so that all of those willing to pay what is required are able to do so with confidence and know that they have done it correctly."

Touche Secretary Rumsfeld. I hope somebody's listening.
