He may barely know how to read books, but he’s already quite the master at playing music.

A 5-year-old South Florida boy is being called a musical prodigy after learning to play the piano not by reading musical notes but through his photographic memory.

Jacob Velasquez’s mother said she learned about her son’s musical talent after she heard him playing one day and she thought it was her husband, Willie, pushing the keystrokes.

"Willie was at work and I was in the kitchen and I hear the song Willie was playing the night before," Jacob's mom, Tina Velazquez, told WPLG-Miami.

"I came in here and said, 'Jacob, oh my gosh, that's you?'" she said.

According to WPLG, Jacob learned a Beethoven’s sonata in three weeks. His parents told the station that he auditioned for the American College of Musicians, which offers scholarships to musical geniuses.

"He had to learn 10 classical pieces all by memory and so he did and he did great. He did amazing actually. He exceeded the expectations," Willie Velasquez told the TV station.

And what does he love about playing the piano?

“Because I learn all these songs!" he told the TV station.

Jacob’s piano teacher said he learns in one class what normally takes regular students a whole month to master.
