Doctor Exploited Patients by Injecting Them With Cow Stem Cells

Published November 20, 2014

A Dutch-trained doctor, who claimed he had a cure for multiple sclerosis, has been found guilty of exploiting several patients after he injected them with stem cells from cows, STV News reported.

A regulatory medical council ruled that Dr. Robert Trossel “abused his position” when he subjected desperate MS sufferers to painful and expensive injections not designed for human use at his clinic in Rotterdam, Holland.

In many instances, Trossel told patients they were receiving umbilical cord stem cells when in reality he was using stems cells of animal origin, according to the report.

In February 2009, he received a five-month suspended prison sentence after failing to comply with Belgian law when carrying out stem cell treatments.

The medical council will now consider the issue of misconduct when the case reconvenes in September.
