Aid For AIDS Founder Says Minorities Hit Harder By Epidemic Than Other Groups

Aid For AIDS is the world’s largest redistributor of HIV treatment medication. For nearly two decades, the international organization has freely given more than $110 million worth of medication to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Jesus Aguais, founder and executive director of Aid for AIDS, told Fox News Latino that the HIV/AIDS epidemic has shifted from the white, gay community to minorities, particularly impacting African Americans and Latinos.
“We Latinos are 30 percent of the new infections when we are 14 percent of the U.S. population,” he said. “We have been greatly affected by the epidemic.”
